Arsenal news: Spanish football expert reveals big doubt over Unai Emery
Emery was appointed Arsene Wenger’s successor at Arsenal seven days ago.
The former Paris Saint-Germain boss has a rebuilding job on his hands after the Gunners failed to qualify for the Champions League for a second successive season under Wenger.
Lowe knows Emery’s style of football well after his successful spells in La Liga with Valencia and Sevilla.
He reckons he will be a success at Arsenal and will bring something they have been crying out for.
But Lowe says that is only if Emery, whose English is not perfect, can get that across to his players.
“One thing is for sure, Unai Emery will do a lot of the work that simply has not happened at Arsenal in recent years,” Lowe told ESPN FC.
“Some of the tactical work, some of the intensity, some of the forcing players to do rather more than occasionally pass the ball nicely.
“So in that sense, he fits very well.
“Obviously how easy it is to impose this on players when the communication is more difficult, when the culture has been what it has, that would be my doubt.
“You asked for a 1-10, I guess we’re looking at a seven or an eight, something like that.”
Juventus right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner and Borussia Dortmund centre-back Sokratis are both in line to become Emery’s first signings at Arsenal.
