Champions League seedings revealed: Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur find out who they could face
All four English clubs in next season’s Champions League have discovered their provisional seedings.
Liverpool will be in pot three after their 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in Saturday’s final denied them a place in pot one.
Had Jurgen Klopp’s men won the Champions League, they could’ve drawn a potential group of Basel, Ludogrets and Celtic. Now they are looking at the possibility of facing Madrid or Barcelona, as well as Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan.
As Premier League champions, City are most likely to get a straightforward group in pot one.
Manchester United and Tottenham are both in pot two, which means they will probably have to face one of Europe’s elite in the group stage.
Provisional Champions League group draw pots 2018/19:
Pot 1: Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Lokomotiv Moscow
Pot 2: Borussia Dortmund, FC Porto, Manchester United, Shakhtar Donetsk, Benfica*, Napoli, FC Basel*, Tottenham Hotspur
Pot 3: Roma, Liverpool, Schalke, Lyon, Monaco, FC Salzburg*, CSKA Moscow, Ludogorets Razgrad*
Pot 4: Inter Milan, Valencia, Hoffenheim – plus all other qualifying teams, including Celtic.
