Diego Simeone next club: Plans REVEALED as agent explains Italy dream
In fact, his sibling has revealed that “it is only a matter of time” before Simeone returns to Inter Milan.
The Argentine is contracted to Atletico Madrid until 2020 and it’s thought that ‘Cholo’ wants to win more silverware before he signs off from the club.
After suffering two Champions League final defeats in 2014 and 2016, Simeone may call it time at the end of this season if he doesn’t win the competition or another La Liga title.
The 48-year-old spent two years as a player at the San Siro where he won the UEFA Cup in 1998.
It would appear that the coach would favour a move to Italy rather than the Premier League, after Natalia Simeone’s interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Diego said it too, sooner or later, he’ll end up at Inter,” she said.
“I think it is only a matter of time. He loves the club, the atmosphere and living in Milan. Inter is a side he would really love to coach.”
The appointment of Simeone would be a huge coup for Inter, who are finally making progress on the field after qualifying for this season’s Champions League.
However, the door isn’t closed on a surprise return to Lazio.
“I should point out that he is also still very fond of Lazio, too. At the end of the day, passion always wins out,” Natalia added.
“Diego has been with Atletico for seven years. He is one of the best coaches in the world, but he remains when he knows there is still work to be done. I accompany him.”
Atletico haven’t made the best of starts to La Liga, they sit tenth in the table with just four points from their opening three matches.
