Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe are all among the top performers in Europe after the first quarter of the season, but which superstar has been the best?

As many as five players have received a rating of higher than eight of 10 by WhoScored.com for their first few games of the 2018/19 campaign.


FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is the top performer in Europe so far, having received an average rating of 8.43 in his eight LaLiga appearances. The Argentine has scored six goals and assisted another four strikes, earning four Man of the Match ratings along the way.


He is followed by teenage sensation Mbappe, who currently averages a rating of 8.37. Despite missing three games due to suspension, the 19-year-old has already scored eight goals and set up three more strikes in just five league appearances.


His teammate Neymar completes the podium with an average rating of 8.29 after scoring eight goals and assisting three more strikes in his first eight Ligue 1 games in 2018/19.


Eden Hazard is currently the top-performing player in the Premier League, with his seven goals and three assists earning him an 8.15 average. The Belgium has received the highest number of Man of the Match ratings from WhoScored, being named the top performer in five of his eight games this season.


AC Milan’s Suso is the fifth player with a rating higher than eight, currently sitting on 8.08 for his two goals and six assists in Serie A. He is Italy’s top performer so far, followed by Cristiano Ronaldo, who has received an average rating of 7.95 for his four goals and four assists in his first eight Serie A games.
