Women's Soccer Takes Preseason Trip to Italy

– The Union College women’s soccer team recently returned from a 10-day long trip to Italy. The trip is designed for team-building and as a tune-up for the upcoming season. The team’s returning players go abroad once every three years, having went to Barcelona in 2015.
Their ten days in Italy involved many guided tours and two friendlies against Italian opposition. The team was able to see historical sites throughout the country and experience a culture vastly different than the one they are used to.
After flying out on the 11th, the team landed in Rome on the 12th. They then went on a walking tour of Imperial Rome, including visiting the Colosseum. The next day, the team faced AS Roma in a friendly and then took a tour of the Vatican City.
For the next four days, the team visited Tuscany. During their time there, they had dinner in the house of a local family and played a match against Hellas Verona. Their trip concluded with a stop in Venice.
The team reported back to campus on August 21 in preparation for the team’s 2018 season, which begins on August 31 at Endicott College.
