Young Moolah: 8 Under-21 Football Players on the Highest Salaries in Europe

Professional football players make a lot of money; and they should, considering some of them make life worth living. But it used to take a while before they were able to prove they were worth a huge investment.

In today’s game, though, things happen fast. Younger players are looking to take over and their wages are beginning to match their ambition.

As such, here’s a list of eight players on the highest salaries around Europe.

8. Marcus Rashford

Weekly wage: £20,000

There’s not much that needs to be said for young Manchester United sensation Marcus Rashford, although he’s been a bit subdued this season.

The 20-year-old forward scored seven goals and assisted five more under Jose Mourinho last season but has only scored once so far, in what has been a poor third campaign for the Portuguese manager.

Rashford currently earns £20,000 per week at United, per Goal, but that is sure to rise in the near future.

7. Christian Pulisic – 19

Weekly wage: €25,000

Borussia Dortmund’s precocious American attacker Christian Pulisic is on a modest €25,000-a-week wage plan, per Total Sportek. But for a 19-year-old, he’s living the life and is actually on pretty healthy wages given his tender years.

Pulisic is one of the most entertaining players to watch in the Bundesliga and, as long as he keeps improving, will definitely attract a huge raise in the future –  be it at Dortmund or at another club.

6. Yann Karamoh

Weekly wage: €45,000

The 20-year-old, on loan at Bordeaux from Inter Milan, has already scored two goals in his first four appearances for the French side.

Hailing from the Ivory Coast, Yann Karamoh is able to play at any position in a three-pronged attack and is considered to be one of the most promising young forwards in Europe.

According to sillyseason.com, the Ivorian is on a €45,000-a-week salary and he could earn even more bank if he keeps performances up in France and Bordeaux exercise their option to buy.

5. Franck Kessie – 20

Weekly wage: €46,296

The AC Milan midfielder made the move from Atalanta to the San Siro last year and earns a reported €46,296 per week, according to acmilaninfo.com.

Kessie, 21, played 37 Serie A games for Milan last season, scoring five times and making three assists. He has scored two goals and assisted another in his first six league appearances for I Rossoneri this season.

4. Martin Odegaard – 19

Weekly wage: £80,000

Martin Odegaard’s name seems to have dropped out of the news in recent years, probably because he’s been loaned out twice despite being billed the world’s most talented teen when he joined Los Blancos in 2015.

The Norwegian, currently on loan at Vitesse Arnhem, is on an £80m-a-week wage, according to The Telegraph, and has been raking that in since he was 16. Now 19, one wonders if the player will ever force his way back into Madrid’s plans, but he’s making enough money not to worry about it too much and still has three years left to go on his deal with the Spanish side.

3. Gianluigi Donnarumma – 19

Weekly wage: €125,000

Another Milan youngster, 19-year-old Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma earns a whopping €6m a year at the San Siro. The stopper signed a new four-year deal with the Serie A side last year which, per ESPN, nets him €125,000 every week.

2. Vinicius Jr.

Weekly wage: €144,000

One of Madrid’s most recently acquired young talents, Brazilian forward Vinicius Jr only just turned 18 but is already earning mega change as he reportedly nets €7.5m a year (Goal).

The former Flamengo star joined Los Blancos with high expectations and is already showing just why Real made the effort to bring him to the Bernabeu.

His yearly salary, broken down, comes to just over €144,000-a-week. And to think that a player with so much potential could only keep on improving, he could rival compatriot Neymar in the earnings department soon enough.

1. Kylian Mbappe – 19

Weekly wage: £320,000

Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe is surely worth his weight in gold. The 19-year-old forward enjoyed a breakout 2016/17 campaign at Monaco ahead of his move to PSG last year and has since gone on to win the World Cup.

According to a report in the Mirror, Mbappe rakes in an unbelievable £320,000-a-week and no one would dare suggest he doesn’t deserve it.
